Chris Usher

Global Head of AML and Financial Crime Education at BPP CI

Chris has over 20 years’ experience in international financial services, working both in the UK and offshore, for major financial institutions such as Barclays Wealth and Santander.

Formerly an International Investment Manager he advised both individuals and corporate entities on complex investment scenarios. He now specialises in delivering training in investment management, taxation and regulatory matters in international finance centres around the world.

Chris is a specialist chairman of a number of high-profile events, including conferences such as the Annual Compliance & Economic Crime Symposium and the International Taxation Conference. As an expert in the financial crime risks posed to international offshore financial centres, Chris was invited to speak at the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) conference on the topic of ‘Understanding the Criminal Vulnerabilities of Offshore Products and Services’.

Amy joined Jersey Finance as Strategic Projects Manager in December 2011, becoming Chief Operating Officer in January 2014. In September 2017 Amy was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Jersey Finance.

Amy was born and educated in Jersey and subsequently went on to study at Durham University where she graduated with an honours degree in Natural Sciences. Before Jersey Finance Amy was a Tax Manager with PwC in the Channel Islands. While working within the tax team Amy was admitted to the Chartered Institute of Taxation as a Chartered Tax Advisor. Amy initially qualified as a Chartered Accountant within PwC’s Assurance team working on audits of a number of banks, financial institutions and public sector bodies.

Mr Major is one of the world's foremost specialists in residency and citizenship-by-investment, an industry pioneer with over 25 years in the Investment Migration field. Mr Major led the launch of many well-known offerings, including the Malta Individual Investor Programme and the Anguilla High Value Resident Programme. Over the span of his career, he and his team have raised over USD 4 billion in capital in over a dozen countries, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Malta, Hong Kong and many Caribbean island nations.

In 2017, he founded Latitude Consultancy Limited, a firm providing residency and citizenship solutions to international private clients, as well as advising governments on how to attract significant Foreign Direct Investments to their shores through such programmes.

Director and Head of Pensions for Fairway

Peter is Director and Head of Pensions for Fairway’s pension and employee benefits business and has been working in the offshore finance industry since 1997.

Throughout his career, he has accumulated substantial experience within the UK, Jersey and international pension arenas. His background in investment management, international financial planning and as a pension trustee is the ideal foundation for his leading role.

Peter’s expertise spans the personal and corporate pension markets, including the structuring of multi-jurisdictional pension schemes and international pension transfers.

In 2003, Peter became the first Certified Financial Planner in the Channel Islands and he has also represented both the domestic and international pension industry in Jersey, as a key member of numerous working groups responsible for advising the States of Jersey in relation to legislative change.

Peter is a Fellow of the Securities & Investments Institute, an Associate of the Institute of Financial Planning, a Member of the Institute of Directors and is a Certified Financial Planner.

Peter joined Tideway in 2010 to lead the firm's asset management team and is now the Group CEO and controlling shareholder of Tideway Investment Group.

As CIO of Tideway Investment Partners LLP, Peter oversees Tideway UCITS Funds ICAV and is the Portfolio Manager on the GBP Hybrid Capital Bond Fund, GBP Credit Fund and Real Return High Income Fund.

Born in Sheffield, Peter graduated from Oriel College, Oxford with a degree in Engineering and has 30 years' experience in the fixed income credit markets. He has held Senior positions at Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns and Bank of America.

In relation to data protection, Mathew has advised for a number of years on data protection compliance in respect of data transfers and disclosure, and also dealing with contentious requests for personal data disclosures.

Russell has direct responsibility for building and implementing the investment strategies available to clients of Affinity.

A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, Russell was formerly Head of Investments for a private bank, where he worked for 11 years, and prior to this was an Assistant Director at SG Hambros. He moved to Jersey in 1991, having completed a Lloyds Bank graduate training programme, and worked for the bank developing their client base in the UK, Europe and southern Africa.

Russell enjoys the beach, reading, gardening and running in an on-going attempt to keep fit. His teenage daughter is committed to teaching him to surf whilst he is committed to encouraging his young son to follow him in becoming a life-long Nottingham Forest fan.

Chris has broad experience of both general international corporate and funds work with particular expertise in private equity and hedge funds, having spent ten years in the City at two leading international firms and a large hedge fund.

Chris advises on all aspects of fund and corporate transactions, including the legal and regulatory aspects of fund launches, and joint ventures. He also has considerable experience in dealing with the Jersey Financial Services Commission in navigating investment vehicles through the Jersey regulatory approval process as part of the Jersey funds team. He also spearheads Carey Olsen's crypto practice, having advised on a series of token offerings/ICOs, crypto funds and crypto exchanges.

Victoria is an Investment Director with over 19 years’ experience in providing and managing investment solutions for charity and pension fund trustees, as well as for individuals. Victoria is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI. As an experienced trustee, she is currently a co-opted trustee for the Edward Gostling Foundation, Advisor to the Stroke Association Investment Committee and formerly for the Lankelly Chase Foundation, an early adopter of the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Investment, latterly chairing the Investment Committee.

Victoria joined Rathbones in 2015 from Barclays Wealth, where she was senior director for the London Charity Team advising boards on the implementation of their investment policies, including ethical and social investment considerations. From 2007 to 2010, Victoria was Regional Investment Director for London and the South East responsible for the Gerrard Investment Management business, equating to £2 billion of private client, charity, pension and court of protection portfolios.

Michaela Seimen Howat is a Sustainable Investing (SI) Strategist in the Chief Investment Office – Wealth Management. She joined UBS in April 2018 from Scope Ratings, a European credit rating agency, where she was a senior analyst for financial institutions. At Scope Ratings she led a project team for the assessment and implementation of ESG criteria in the credit rating process.

Michaela has more than 15 years of international experience in the credit and debt markets. Prior to joining Scope Ratings, Michaela was a rates strategist within the Investment Banking Divisions of Royal Bank of Canada, Barclays and UBS in London where she covered Supranationals, Sub-Sovereigns & Agencies, as well as Covered Bonds. She was responsible for advising institutional clients with a global coverage. Michaela also worked in counterparty risk management for financial institutions at UBS in London and, from 2003 until 2006, she worked as a bank analyst for Moody’s in Frankfurt and London.

Michaela studied Economics with a focus on International Business Relationships and International Market Management at the Universities of Passau and Muenster, Germany, and received a Master's degree.
