Stuart Chandler

Head of Funds at BPP CI

Stuart originally joined BPP CI as a tutor in 2011 and, after 4 years as a senior tutor and ACCA Programme Manager, moved to State Street in order to gain more experience in Guernsey’s fund industry. Whilst there he was Assistant Vice President in the Client Services team, responsible for a range of listed and unlisted private equity funds. He re-joined BPP in 2017 when a senior position became available. Stuart is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Stuart’s experience in the fund industry is broad, spanning 10 years in fund accounting, financial reporting, operational and regulatory compliance, board management, corporate secretarial and administration. This experience is invaluable when it comes to designing and delivering courses in the Professional Development arena across areas such as fund accounting, fund structuring and asset classes, emerging regulation, Anti Money Laundering and compliance. Stuart also delivers numerous courses for the ACCA, Chartered Governance Institute and ACA qualifications, with a focus on strategy, law and audit.

Barnaby joined We Are Guernsey in October 2016 with more than a decade of international marketing experience across digital and TV, having previously worked in senior roles across the gaming industry. As Director of Marketing and Operations at We Are Guernsey, Barnaby leads the jurisdictional marketing strategy to promote and connect Guernsey as the world’s leading finance centre.

Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting LLP

Federica is a Partner in the Financial Services practice at FTI consulting. She leads a team of regulatory experts who assist regulators and regulated firms across a wide range of compliance topics – from financial crime, to conduct, through to governance and market abuse – often with the application of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence.

Federica has worked in industry at firms including Credit Suisse and RBS and served as Head of Compliance and Head of Controls and is currently a strategic adviser to the Malta Fianancial Services Authority and to the Malta FIAU and has led some of the recent most high-profile financial crime investigations.

Jo Huxtable

Partner at Deloitte LLP

Jo leads Deloitte’s tax practice across the Channel Islands and has worked in tax for around 27 years mainly within professional practice but also within industry. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor and has experience in both corporate tax and VAT. She has considerable experience with a focus on corporate and international tax for a wide range of financial services clients, including investment funds and private equity houses. Projects range from local Guernsey and Jersey tax compliance and advice, VAT advisory as well as advice on international tax principles such as residence, permanent establishment, withholding tax and the impact of double tax treaties. Her experience also covers transaction work on disposals, acquisitions and re-organisations.

Advisor, speaker and researcher at Perrin Carey

Perrin is a highly experienced, professionally qualified and Fellow of the International Compliance Association (FICA) who has worked at executive level in compliance, risk management and governance for over 15 years. This has involved financial services, eGaming, UK Higher Education and regulatory authorities.

Perrin’s work focuses on the integration of governance, risk and compliance and how by doing this, businesses can generate better outcomes, such as, long-term growth, shareholder value, sustainability, consumer confidence and of course regulatory compliance.

As both an experienced professional and researcher, he has a pragmatic but evidence-based approach to this most challenging area and is passionate about changing the narrative that surrounds ‘governance | risk | compliance’ and their integration with organisational culture.

James Brown

ICAEW Programme Manager and Senior Tutor at BPP CI

Prior to joining BPP, James was a senior manager at a Big 4 audit firm where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. During his time as an auditor he was primarily responsible for serving clients in the Insurance industry. His portfolio also included real estate and debt funds listed on the London Stock Exchange, as well as private funds, fiduciaries, wealth managers, trust & company and utilities. He was also one of the Financial Services lead facilitators on internal training courses.
