Overview

The 2020 Online Green & Sustainable Finance Forum, will take place online on 06 August 2020. The event is delivered via Adobe Connect, an award-winning online learning environment.

The Crown Dependencies’ flagship Green and Sustainable Finance event will explore the role of the finance sector in shifting capital to assets with low carbon intensities.

Topics will range from reviewing how global green finance solutions can contribute to climate change mitigation to examining the future policy trajectory for sustainable finance investing. This contemporary event will enable delegates to hear from a range of local and off-island industry experts in the field of green and sustainable finance. The event will welcome industry-expert speakers from the advisory and legal sectors specialising in financial services and in particular, sustainable finance.

Chris Usher

Managing Director (Jersey) of BPP CI

Chris has over 20 years’ experience in international financial services, working both in the UK and offshore, for major financial institutions such as Barclays Wealth and Santander.

Formerly an International Investment Manager he advised both individuals and corporate entities on complex investment scenarios. He now specialises in delivering training in investment management, taxation and regulatory matters in international finance centres around the world.

Chris is a specialist chairman of a number of high-profile events, including conferences such as the Annual Compliance & Economic Crime Symposium and the International Taxation Conference. As an expert in the financial crime risks posed to international offshore financial centres, Chris was invited to speak at the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) conference on the topic of ‘Understanding the Criminal Vulnerabilities of Offshore Products and Services’.

Caitlin McErlane is a partner in Baker McKenzie’s Financial Services & Regulatory Group.

Caitlin's practice focuses on advising a range of global financial institutions on complex and high value regulatory matters. She advises banks, major corporates, payment institutions and asset managers on navigating UK and EU financial services regulation. She has particular experience in advising clients on regulatory implementation projects, day-to-day compliance issues, and regulatory issues arising in the context of large-scale transactions. Caitlin is a member of the Baker's ESG and sustainability taskforce, and advises a range of clients on the drafting and implementation of ESG policies and the implications of becoming a signatory to the UNPRI and the Stewardship Code.

UK Head of Investments at PortfolioMetrix

Nic is UK head of investments for PortfolioMetrix, looking after UK client portfolios. He is a member of PortfolioMetrix’s global investment committee and, as well as being deeply involved in asset allocation, he spearheads PortfolioMetrix’s fund selection process in the UK. He is also a member of PortfolioMetrix’s global strategy committee.

Based in London, Nic is an actuary, a CFA® charterholder and graduated with distinction from the University of the Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Science (Hons). He has over 12 years’ worth of financial services experience, over 8 of which have been at PortfolioMetrix.

Conor Holland

Director, ESG Asset Management at KPMG Ireland

Conor is a director in KPMG Ireland’s Financial Services practice. He has extensive experience of providing assurance related services to Irish and international banks, global asset managers, real estate and energy companies. He also has particular experience in assisting banking and asset management clients with risk, governance and regulatory reviews. Conor is a member of the global ESG Asset Management working group within KPMG and the Irish Funds’ ESG working group, contributing to formal consultation responses relating to EU sustainable finance regulatory developments. He supports clients in integrating ESG strategies and policy design into their investment policies and governance framework.

Mark Clubb

Senior Investment Manager at Team Asset Management

Born in Preston, Lancashire, England in 1960, Mark has a BA (Hons)degree in Economics and Business Studies, CISI level 6 in Private Client Investment Advice and Management and ICA Advanced Certificate in Compliance. Mark began his career in 1981 at the London based internationally respected firm of stockbrokers Hoare Govett. Starting as a company analyst Mark went on to build a 27-year career in investment banking. During this time, he would go on to hold various senior management roles working for UBS Philips and Drew and BZW (latterly Credit Suisse First Boston).

He has been Involved in hundreds of corporate transactions, ranging from mergers and acquisitions to fundraising's including listings and IPO’s. Many of these involved international companies both large and small, various industries and differing sizes and levels of complexity. He engaged with international stock markets but also the private equity and venture capital markets.

Mark has a deep understanding of corporate capital structures, the internal financial workings, management initiatives and controls of companies and the relationship between company performance and long-term share price behaviour. Having to interface with institutional investment managers over those years has also given Mark an extensive knowledge of various investment styles, strategies and disciplines. He has also operated in the extremes of stock market conditions, including the UK recessions of the early 80s, early 90s and of course the credit crisis of 2008/9.

In 1997 Mark, together with six partners, founded London based investment banking boutique Altium Capital Partners. Following a management buyout of Altium in 2008, Mark returned to Jersey and secured a position at private client stockbrokers, Collins Stewart, later acquired by Canaccord Genuity Inc. This marked the beginning of a second career in investment management. He has built a 10-year track record of consistent market competitive portfolio returns investing in global equities. Mark is extremely experienced and disciplined. He is extensively well read and the subjects of investing and investment practices are his passion.
