This event aims to answer some of the burning questions and will serve as a road map for risk management frameworks.

Gus is a technology evangelist and leader with broad experience from his 20 years in senior roles as Chief Technology Officer for a number of organisations from bootstrapped startups to enterprise consultancy organisations.

With a “Change the world” attitude, he is CEO of Atam ID Technologies leveraging cutting edge biometric and blockchain technologies for good and recently launched Rvoke – a consumer and business solution for data protection. Gus also holds a number of advisory positions at fintech companies and other startups.

He is a regular speaker at conferences on various topics including IoT, Identity, Cybersecurity and Blockchain technologies and is frequently asked to write for publications.

A/Detective Inspector Dan Piper

NFIB (National Fraud Intelligence Bureau) Detective Inspector in charge of Cybercrime and Disruptions for the City of London Police

Dan is the Acting Detective inspector on the NFIB cyber team and the Cyber Disruptions and Preventions Team. His role involves managing all cybercrime offences reported into the NFIB on a daily basis. Additionally he runs a team of officers dedicated to disrupting malicious websites, phone numbers and email addresses used by criminals to aid their wrongdoings. Dan is also a qualified trainer specialising in delivering cybercrime training to police and the private sector, criminal investigations and interviewing, family liaison and CPIA training.

He is particularly passionate about educating people in the pitfalls and solutions of lax cyber processes and how easily we can make ourselves more vulnerable to becoming a victim.

Information Commissioner for the Jersey Office

Dr. Jay Fedorak was appointed Information Commissioner for the Jersey (Channel Islands) Data Protection Authority in July 2018. He previously served for six years as Deputy to the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia. He has 25 years of experience in the field of privacy and Freedom of Information. Jay holds an MA and PhD in International History from the London School of Economics. He is an expert in the field of Great Britain and Europe during the 18th and 19th centuries and the author of ‘Henry Addington, Prime Minister, 1801-1804: Peace, War, and Parliamentary Politics’. Jay has taught History at the London School of Economics, Royal Roads Military College, the University of Victoria, and Simon Fraser University.

Davida joined specialist boutique employment and information law firm Callington Chambers in September 2016.

She is an experienced advocate and litigator providing specialist advice (contentious and non-contentious) in the field of information law, covering all aspects of the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018, the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 and the GDPR. She also advises on all aspects of employment law with a particular focus on work-related personal injury claims (including bullying, stress and psychiatric injuries).

Dave Cartwright

Senior Consultant, Information Security at Grant Thornton

Dave is Grant Thornton’s Senior Consultant for Information Security in the Channel Islands, having joined the company in early 2018. Prior to switching focus solely onto information security a few years ago, he worked primarily in enterprise architecture, networking and telecoms, having graduated with a Computer Science degree in the 90s. He is deputy chairman of the Channel Islands Information Security Forum, Chairman of the Jersey Charitable Skills Pool, and a committee member of the Jersey branch of the BCS. He is a Fellow of the BCS, a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered IT Professional, and also holds the CISSP security qualification. Outside technology and InfoSec, Dave is chairman of the advisory committee of the Move On Youth Project and President of the Jersey Masonic Charities Association. Originally from Lincolnshire, Dave has lived in Jersey since 2009.

An experienced leader within the cyber security realm, Chris Woods is also the founder and director of CyberQ Group – an award-winning cyber security company in the UK. Having previously managed elite security teams at the European Space Agency, HP and Fujitsu, Chris brings over 20 years of pure cyber security experience developed within the EU and MENA regions.

Whilst at HP, Chris developed and led a cyber security practice, culminating in the acquisition of ArcSight for $1.5b. Chris is now leading a passionate team of cyber and business professionals, developing the next generation of Security Operations Centres using Big Data analytics and Machine Learning.

Chris is a committed Information Security Champion and frequent speaker at international conferences and events.

Damon’s focus is on Cyber Security Governance and assisting businesses embracing digital change whilst maintaining effective risk management practices.
