Chris Usher

Managing Director (Jersey) of BPP CI

Chris has over 20 years’ experience in international financial services, working both in the UK and offshore, for major financial institutions such as Barclays Wealth and Santander.

Formerly an International Investment Manager he advised both individuals and corporate entities on complex investment scenarios. He now specialises in delivering training in investment management, taxation and regulatory matters in international finance centres around the world.

Chris is a specialist chairman of a number of high-profile events, including conferences such as the Annual Compliance & Economic Crime Symposium and the International Taxation Conference. As an expert in the financial crime risks posed to international offshore financial centres, Chris was invited to speak at the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) conference on the topic of ‘Understanding the Criminal Vulnerabilities of Offshore Products and Services’.

Malin Nilsson is a Managing Director in the Duff & Phelps Compliance and Regulatory Consulting team and is based in Jersey, delivering services to clients across the Channel Islands and internationally. She leads regulatory due diligence assignments for both buyers and vendors and regularly conducts enforcement and supervisory engagements, concentrating on governance, systems and controls and risk management. Heading a team of professionals who perform compliance consulting engagements involving regulatory investigations, compliance secondments, and development of policies and procedures, risk and governance frameworks, Malin has a wide range of experience across fiduciary, fund administration, investment management and banking institutions in the Crown Dependencies, Europe, Caribbean and Far East where the team is routinely deployed to assist multinational organisations.

Head of Unit, Examinations at the Jersey Financial Services Commission

Amanda Reilly is Head of Unit, Examinations at the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC).

Amanda is responsible for leading both the Supervision Examination Unit and Financial Crime Examination Unit.

Amanda joined the JFSC in April 2017 as an Examiner, with responsibility for conducting on-site examinations at supervised and regulated businesses, and subsequently as Senior Manager in the Supervision Examination Unit.

Prior to joining the JFSC, Amanda worked in the finance industry in banking and investments. She also spent 15 months at a local law firm.

Amanda is investment qualified and completed diplomas with the International Compliance Association in Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering. She has also completed the STEP Certificate in International Trust Management and holds qualifications in coaching and mentoring, and leadership.

Partner at Mourant

Mathew acts on a wide-range of high-profile and multi-jurisdictional banking, corporate, funds, financial crime, trust and property disputes. In addition, he advises regularly on regulatory issues, including compliance with the local regulatory regime, anti-money laundering legislation, data protection issues and sanction compliance. In relation to data protection, Mathew has advised for a number of years on data protection compliance in respect of data transfers and disclosure, and also dealing with contentious requests for personal data disclosures.

Mathew is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (FCSI). In 2018, Mathew was awarded the ‘certified GDPR practitioner’ certification. After leaving the British Army in 1985, Mathew worked in the asset management industry for ten years. After this time, he joined the JFSC, and in April 2005 Mathew founded Comsure, that now consists of three companies (the Comsure Group of Companies). Comsure aims to provide comprehensive business risk advisory services and help minimise its clients’ business risks. Whether it’s a need for training, regulatory interpretation or consideration of RegTech, Mathew and Comsure’s team of compliance experts are well versed in providing excellent advice.

Jon Stevens

Head of Policy at the Jersey Financial Services Commission

Jon Stevens is Head of Policy at the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC). Jon is a chartered accountant and worked as an auditor followed by time in local industry before joining the JFSC’s Supervision division working primarily in Fund and Trust Company supervision. Jon then joined Policy where he has held responsibility for aspects of the Codes of Practice and more recently supporting the development of the JFSC’s Strategic Roadmap and all aspects of the Policy team’s work.
