Emma Martins

Data Protection Commissioner for the Bailiwick of Guernsey

Emma’s academic background is in social science and her career started in public service and working as a civilian manager for the States of Jersey Police in the 1990s. A role which had data protection duties as part of its remit which was her introduction to this field of work. She was employed at the Data Protection Office as Deputy Registrar in 2001. When the Commissioner retired in 2005, Emma was successful in her application for the role. In 2012 the Channel Islands joined forces to establish a pan-Island data protection presence and Emma now manages regulatory oversight of both Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey. More recently this role has also extended to oversight of the recently implemented Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 in Jersey creating the role of Information Commissioner.

Senior Associate at Mourant

Hana is a Senior Associate in Mourant's Guernsey Employment practice. She joined the firm in January 2019 having previously trained and worked with Collas Crill. Hana's areas of practice are contentious and non-contentious employment law advising both global and local companies. She advise individuals and businesses relocating or starting up in Guernsey on visas, in particular Investor and Entrepreneur visas, immigration matters generally and employment permits. She also advise on Guernsey specific out of policy residence certificates. Hana is part of a team of specialists advising businesses on data protection matters including working with clients to ensure that their policies, procedures and third-party contracts can demonstrate compliance with data protection legislation, drafting information notices to meet the required standards of transparency and advising on the legality of international transfers of personal data. She is a regular speaker on employment related matters, contribute to articles and provide training to clients with regards to employment law.

Vicki Eppelein

HR and Payroll Services Manager at Leapfrog

Vicki joined the Leapfrog team in 2018 to manage the outsource HR and Payroll Service.

The majority of her career has mostly been spent within Guernsey's finance sector as well as within the tech/aviation industry. Vicki has extensive experience working with companies at start-up phase, being instrumental in assisting with the set-up and running of day to day operations, policies and procedures, and specialising in human resource management. Prior to this she worked in recruitment for seven years where she established and successfully managed a temporary and contract desk.

Vicki is an Associate Member of the CIPD and holds the Certificate in Human Resources Practice.

Managing Director (Jersey) of BPP CI

Chris has over 20 years’ experience in international financial services, working both in the UK and offshore, for major financial institutions such as Barclays Wealth and Santander.

Formerly an International Investment Manager he advised both individuals and corporate entities on complex investment scenarios. He now specialises in delivering training in investment management, taxation and regulatory matters in international finance centres around the world.

Chris is a specialist chairman of a number of high-profile events, including conferences such as the Annual Compliance & Economic Crime Symposium and the International Taxation Conference. As an expert in the financial crime risks posed to international offshore financial centres, Chris was invited to speak at the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) conference on the topic of ‘Understanding the Criminal Vulnerabilities of Offshore Products and Services’.
