Polly Greenberg

Chief of Major Economic Crimes Bureau at the New York County District Attorney’s Office

Polly is responsible for managing prosecutors, investigators, analysts, and paralegals who investigate and prosecute all manner of white-collar fraud, including accounting fraud, securities and commodities fraud, large-scale mortgage and insurance fraud and Ponzi schemes.

Under her direction, the Major Economic Crimes Bureau also investigates schemes involving illicit international money movement, such as money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions evasion. Polly joined the Office in 1993, starting in the Appeals Bureau and later serving in the Investigations Division.

After leaving the Office in late 2000 for private practice, Polly returned in 2005 and was assigned to the Rackets Bureau, where she conducted wiretap investigations into organised crime and prosecuted public corruption cases. She graduated from Wesleyan University with High Honors in American Studies and attended New York University School of Law.

Joe Pistone

Former Undercover Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Agent 'Donnie Brasco'

Joseph (Joe) Dominick Pistone successfully infiltrated New York’s Bonanno Mafia family. Going under the name of “Donnie Brasco”, Pistone became close to several Mafia members during an undercover assignment that lasted six years and the information he amassed over that time led to 235 convictions. Eventually, Brasco was pulled and the mission was ended for Pistone’s safety.

Pistone was an FBI agent for 27 years and is now a police training consultant and instructor on undercover/organised matters for the FBI and other very highly regarded law enforcement agencies around the world.

He is also the Author of the New York Times Best Seller “Donnie Brasco: My Undercover Life In The Mafia” and many other books based on the Donnie Brasco character.

Daniel Tannebaum

Partner and Global Sanctions Leader at PwC

Daniel Tannebaum is a Principal in PwC’s Financial Crimes Unit and the Leader of the Global Financial Services Sanctions Practice. Dan provides AML and Sanctions regulatory crisis management support to global financial institutions including banks, broker dealers and money services businesses. He also provides strategic AML and Sanctions Compliance Program support during both program creation and remediation. Dan has supported the Global AML and Sanctions Remediation for several G-SIFIs under investigation or subject to enforcement actions.

At PwC, Dan has supported numerous global financial institutions as a result of their AML and Sanctions violations in the U.S. He’s lead AML and Sanctions Compliance Program Remediations for European and Asian financial institutions including the design of target operating models, policies and procedures, and communication strategies.

Previously Dan served as the Head of Compliance for the Americas and Global Sanctions Champion at Travelex. In this capacity he directed a staff of over 30 Compliance professionals in the U.S., Canada and Brazil. 

Before joining Travelex, Dan was the OFAC Compliance Coordinator for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he advised on OFAC issues.

Dan began his career in Compliance when he served as a Compliance Officer with the Office of Foreign Assets Control, US Department of the Treasury. Dan received the FBI Director’s Certificate for Exceptional Service in the Public Interest in May 2007. He was an instructor at the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Law Enforcement Training Center course on International Banking and Money Laundering, and has trained Federal Reserve national supervisory examiners and FDIC examiners on OFAC regulations and policies.

Dan is a regular guest on Bloomberg TV and speaks at industry forums and governments events globally on the topic of Sanctions Compliance.

General Sir Mike Jackson GCB, CBE, DSO, ADC, DL

Chief of the General Staff for the British Army

General Sir Mike Jackson GCB, CBE, DSO, ADC, DL, is a retired British army officer, formerly Chief of the General Staff. He was commander of KFOR in Kosovo as well as being an IFOR commander in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In 2006 Jackson delivered the annual Richard Dimbleby Lecture in which he criticised the Ministry of Defence’s running of the armed forces. He questioned the MoD’s understanding of the fundamental ethos of the armed forces, telling the audience: “One’s loyalty must be from the bottom. Sadly, I did not find this fundamental proposition shared by the MoD

Charlie McMurdie

Head of Law Enforcement at the National Cyber Crime Capability Department based at Scotland Yard

Charlie McMurdie served for 32 years in the Metropolitan Police where she established and led a world class national cyber crime capability and enforcement body for the United Kingdom. She is an acknowledged cyber crime and security expert and internationally acclaimed authority and advisor on issues within government and industry in relation to the Internet, computing fraud and security sectors.

Charlie’s personal network spans academia, industry, government, law enforcement, intelligence and security agencies internationally. Charlie is the senior cyber crime advisor at PwC and advises cyber security teams across Forensics, Risk Assurance and Legal Services and also presents on cyber crime and security in various forums.

Daniel Thelesklaf

Director, Financial Intelligence Unit, Principality of Liechtenstein and Deputy Chair of Moneyval

Daniel Thelesklaf, a lawyer by profession, is the Director of the FIU of Liechtenstein, Chair of the Egmont Training Working Group, and Deputy Chair of Moneyval. He became the first Director of the Swiss FIU in 1998 after a career in the private sector. From 2001-2003, he was responsible for the establishment of the Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority.

After that, he worked as consultant in various AML/CFT and anti-corruption projects, mainly in the Caribbean, Eastern and Central Europe and in CIS countries, for various international organisations. From 2008-2011, he was Executive Director of the Basel Institute on Governance.

Lord Eatwell

President of Queens’ College and emeritus professor of financial policy, University of Cambridge.

Lord Eatwell is president of Queens’ College and emeritus professor of financial policy, University of Cambridge. From 1985 to 1992, John Eatwell served as economic adviser to Neil Kinnock, leader of the British Labour Party. In 1992 he entered the House of Lords and from 1993 to 1997 was Principal Opposition Spokesman on Treasury and Economic Affairs, a position he resumed in 2010.

In 2009 he became a member of the House of Lords’ Economic Affairs Committee. He has been a teaching fellow at Harvard University and is a visiting professor at Columbia University, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and the University of Amsterdam. He was a member of the Regulatory Decisions Committee of the Financial Services Authority from 2001 until 2006. He is Chairman of the Jersey Financial Services Commission.

Robert Mazur

​Federal Agent on Operation C-Chase for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

Robert had a 27-year career as a federal agent as Senior Special Agent with three federal agencies (IRS – Criminal Investigation Division, US Customs Service, and the Drug Enforcement Administration). He is best known for his 2-year undercover role as a money launderer in an investigation that resulted in the prosecutions of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI), senior officers of BCCI, and high-ranking members of Colombian drug cartels.

Robert James MacRae QC

HM Attorney General for Jersey at the Law Officers’ Department

Robert was appointed Her Majesty's Attorney General for Jersey in May 2015.

The role of the Attorney General of Jersey includes acting as Chief Prosecutor and as the body responsible for giving and seeking mutual legal assistance to overseas judicial and law enforcement agencies in criminal cases.

One of the priorities for the Attorney General of Jersey is to ensure that money laundering cases are investigated and prosecuted swiftly and that the fruits of money laundering and fraud are confiscated. In the past 7 years Jersey has achieved a number of notable successes in prosecuting fraud and money laundering cases. Robert will speak of one such case from 2016 in his presentation.

Henk Potts

Director, Global Research & Investments at Barclays

Henk Potts joined Barclays Bank in 1998 as a graduate and worked as a Stock Market Analyst for Barclays Stockbrokers, focusing on UK equities.

In his current role, Director of Global Research & Investments for Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, Henk analyses a wide variety of asset classes, including equities, currencies and commodities, as well as ascertaining and explaining the effects of macroeconomic changes on financial markets.

Henk has regular television and radio commitments as our in-house stock market expert and writes columns for various national UK newspapers and personal finance magazines.

Jonathan Benton

Head of the UK Anti-Corruption Asset Recovery Task Force

Jonathan Benton was a Senior Investigating Officer for the Metropolitan Police, responsible for all investigative work undertaken by the UK  Anti-Corruption Asset Recovery Task Force and is the Head of Proceeds of International Corruption Unit.

He has twenty years’ experience as an investigator including operating in the field of Counter Terrorism, Homicide and International deployments to the Middle East.

He mentored Senior Investigating Officers dealing with serious and organised crime as well as assisting governments across the globe in providing technical capability to tackle corruption in uncooperative countries.

One of Jonathan’s successes was the conviction of former Nigerian State Governor James Ibori, who was suspected of stealing $250m from his country.

Yoram Lustig

Head of Multi-Asset Investments UK at AXA Investment Manager

Yoram Lustig is a multi-asset portfolio manager and author. In 2013 he joined AXA Investment Managers as Head of Multi-Asset Investments UK. From 2009 to 2012 he was Head of Multi-Asset Funds at Aviva Investors. From 2002 to 2009 he was Head of Portfolio Construction at Merrill Lynch. He began his career in 1998 as a lawyer.

Yoram’s first two books, ‘Multi-Asset Investing’ and ‘The Investment Assets Handbook’, were published in 2013 and 2014 (Harriman House). His latest book, ‘The Financial Times Guide to Saving and Investing for Retirement’, was published in 2016 (FT Publishing International).

He holds an MBA from London Business School and a law degree from Tel Aviv University.
